Abstract
A cable for a cable lock has a core and multiple outer wires. The outer wires are twisted around the core. At least one of the core and the outer wires is fabricated by multiple twisted threads made of a pliable but strong material. Wherein, the threads are made of Kevlar.TM. fiber or the like. With such a cable, the cable has both good resilience and good strength. The use of the cable is convenient, and the useful life of the cable is long.

Claims

What is claimed is:
1. A cable for a cable lock comprising: a core fabricated by multiple twisted threads; and multiple outer wires twisted around the core and each made of multiple twisted threads, wherein, the threads of at least one of the core and the outer wires are made of a pliable and strong material; and the pliable and strong material is Kevlar fiber.
2. The cable as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a coat made of a resilient material and enclosing the outer wires and the core.
3. The cable as claimed in claim 1, wherein the threads of the core are made of Kevlar fiber.
4. The cable as claimed in claim 1, wherein the threads of one of the outer wires are made of Kevlar fiber.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] The present invention relates to a cable, and more particularly to a cable for a cable lock.
[0003] 2. Description of Related Art
[0004] A cable lock is commonly used to lock a bicycle, a motorcycle or a computer. A conventional cable lock comprises a latch assembly and a cable. The latch assembly substantially comprises a body and a latch bolt respectively mounted on two ends of the cable. The cable is constructed of multiple steel wires twisted together. Although the cable composed of twisted multiple steel wires has both strength and resilience, the conventional cable is hard to bend or stretch when required in certain situations. Thus, the conventional cable is inconvenient in use.
[0005] Another conventional cable in accordance with the prior art is constructed of a core and multiple steel wires. The core is a rope made of hemp, flax, jute and so on. The steel wires are twisted around the core. However, although the conventional cable with a core has a good resilience to be easily bent or stretched, the structural strength of the conventional cable is not enough and thus cannot provide reliable security. The core made of hemp or the like is easily damaged due to an external force or weather effect and so the useful life of the conventional cable is short.
[0006] To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention tends to provide a cable for a cable lock to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] The main objective of the invention is to provide a cable for a cable lock and having good strength and resilience. The cable has a core and multiple outer wires. The outer wires are twisted around the core. At least one of the core and the outer wires is fabricated by multiple twisted threads made of a pliable but strong material such as Kevlar.TM. fiber or the like. Consequently, the cable has good resilience to be easily bent or stretched when used and good rigidity so as to be not easily broken. The use of the cable is convenient, and the useful life of the cable is long.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0014] With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, a cable lock comprises a latch assembly (10) and a cable (20). The latch assembly (10) has a body (11) and a latch bolt (12) respectively attached to two ends of the cable (20). A hole is defined in the body (11) for the latch bolt (12) to be inserted into the hole. A locking device is mounted in the body (11) to lock the latch bolt (12). Consequently, the cable lock can be used to lock bicycles, motorcycles or computers to an immovable object to prevent theft or unauthorized movement.
[0015] With reference to FIGS. 3 and 4, the cable (20) in accordance with the present invention comprises a core (22) and multiple outer wires (21,212). The core (22) is made of multiple twisted threads. The threads are made of a pliable but strong material, such as Kevlar.TM. fiber or the like. The outer wires (21,212) are made of multiple twisted steel threads and are twisted around the core (22). In addition, a coat (23) made of a resilient material such a plastic material or a rubber material encloses the outer wires (21,212) and the core (22) to provide a protecting effect to the outer wires (21,212) and the core (22). Furthermore, the coat (23) can be of different colors to improve the appearance of the cable lock
[0016] Accordingly, because there is the core (22) made of a pliable but strong material arranged in the cable (20), the cable (20) has both good strength and good resilience. With that good strength, the cable (20) is not easily broken by an external force or weather effect. With that good resilience, the cable (20) is easily bent or stretched when required. The use of the cable (20) is convenient, and the useful life of the cable (20) is long.
[0017] In another embodiment, with reference to FIG. 5, the core (22a) is made of multiple twisted steel threads, and at least one of the outer wires (212a) is made of multiple twisted threads those are made of a pliable but strong material, such as Kevlar.TM. fiber or the like. Accordingly, the cable (20) shown in FIG. 5 can also provide both good strength and good resilience. In addition, because the outer wire (212a) made of the Kevlar.TM. fiber can be easily painted in different colors, the appearance of the cable (20) is versatile due to the variety of the outer wires (21,212a) in colors.
