Abstract
An Ethernet switch/router for an unshielded twisted pair (UTP)/optical integrated network comprises: at least one physical chip for physical-layer processing the frame; at least one media module connected to at least one kind of media; and at least one cage having a socket connected to a corresponding physical chip via a signal bus, and connecting the media module to the physical chip via the signal bus when the media module is mounted.
Abstract
The present invention discloses an Ethernet switch for implementing intelligent service processing, comprising: an ASIC chip designed to divert and forward received messages; a network processor, which is connected with said ASIC chip in a closed loop for message forwarding, and designed to process messages from said ASIC chip and send the processed messages back to said ASIC chip; and a CPU, which is connected with said ASIC chip and said network processor, and designed to manage and control said ASIC chip and to manage and control said network processor. The present invention also provides a method for implementing intelligent service processing using the above Ethernet switch. The Ethernet switch and the intelligent service processing method thereof according to the present invention add intelligent message processing feature to existing Ethernet switches while keep high performance of existing Ethernet switches in processing common Ethernet messages, to enable Ethernet switches to adapt to different networking environments and have good networking flexibility.
Abstract
A system and method for negotiating speed of a stack link disposed between a stack port of a first stack switch element (SSE) and a stack port of a second SSE, wherein the first and second SSEs are immediate neighbors in a stackable Ethernet switch (SES). In one embodiment, appropriate logic and/or processing structures are provided with respective SSEs for automatically negotiating the stack link's speed during initialization of the SES, whereby the stack link's speed may be increased to a select bandwidth rate greater than a default rate upon determining that the stack ports of the first and second SSE are capable of supporting the select bandwidth rate |
