The seat of a wheelchair has a back that is deeply contoured to provide lateral support for a user, and which is adjusted to conform to user torsos of various sizes. The seat back has a rigid, curved shell formed by a back panel with separate wings adjustably projecting forward from opposite sides of the back panel. Adjustment of the wings alters the length of curvature of the shell to conform to user torsos of different sizes. A cushion is attached to the shell and has pleated sections which expand and contract as the shell is adjusted.

The present invention relates a raising wheelchair comprising two rigid frames, two fixing combinations, two lever combinations and a transformation combination. The rigid frame is connected to a wheel and has a front cross frame coupled between the rigid frames. The fixing combinations further comprise a linking frame and tooth frame, whereby the linking frame enfolds the tooth frame and couples to said rigid frame. The tooth frame comprises a tooth fitting. The lever combination is located at the top of said rigid frame and further comprises a rear cross frame coupled between said lever combination of lever. The raising wheelchair provides assistance to users for stable, convenient, and independent operation in rising from or sitting into the chair.
Abstract
Wheelchair designs and enhancements are provided for use with conventional wheelchair designs. The designs and enhancements include first and second contoured folding seat panels that are hingedly mounted with respect to the wheelchair frame and that are offer interlocking functionality. The folding seats generally provide contouring in both front-to-back and side-to-side directions. Features are provided to prevent capture of objects between seat panels as they are brought into interlocking engagement. Pivotal footrests that offer enhanced stability in the form of lateral, front-to-back and up-down stability are provided In addition, axle and axle plate combinations are described that provide enhanced flexibility in relative positioning with respect to the wheelchair frame. The disclosed features and functionalities may be incorporated into wheelchair designs, either in whole or in part, to provide enhanced user interaction with the wheelchair. |
